In India, we have had a customer, at our suggestion, successfully install and utilize a ag shade cloth netting around his pond to contain the drift of salt to the pond area.

As the pictures indicate, the netting is attached only to the top rail, the wind blows the netting and it works as an automatic self cleaning device, ingenious in its simplicity and full recognition should be given to the Khanna family for the design and installation at their family distillery near Bhopal in India.

The design that they installed is 5 meters tall, with 10 ft centres, using 2.5-inch pipe.

The beauty of this setup is that any salt passing thru the netting fell out within one metre, any wet salt that was deposited on the netting, dropped back into the pond when the wind blew in the opposite direction, self cleaning itself. The poles on 10 ft centres acted as a stop for the netting when the wind direction blew against the fence. This design allows the wind to pass thru the netting. The height of the fence would be determined by the size of your pond, the pond these pictures are from is much smaller than it appears in the photos; it is actually only about 250 feet across in width, from where the evaporators sit to the fence.
